For many centuries, our ancestors across many lineages have created rituals and practices for grief during times of loss, heartache, and collective struggle, and these practices help us to live more authentically and to appreciate thresholds and relationships with the beyond. In the times we live in now, full of strategic state violence and oppression, the ability to grieve helps us to better radically accept our circumstances, connect to others, and dream up visionary futures.
In this class we will discuss traditional magical practices and rituals for being with our grief in all its forms. We will learn about plants, herbs, candle magic, archetypes and folklore for identifying and moving through grief how it shows up in our bodies and in our communities. Participants will leave with tools and practices for alchemizing their own grief into creativity, connection and transformation for the times ahead.
